Mindset Shift–Time For Money Vs. Paid For Results

Here’s the cold hard truth.  The most money you make is when you aren’t trading time for money.  The hardest money to make is when you’re not trading time for money.  Wanna know why?  Because you need to learn how to create something of value or present something of value to the people who are willing to pay top dollar for it.  Creating value is not easy.  If you work at a job, you could do the bare minimum or be the worst employee in the company, but as long as you put in the time, you still get paid.  When you are paid for results, the game changes.  You could have the best product in the world and still not make any money no matter how much time you put in trying to sell it.  This is why people shy away from the idea of starting a business or doing Internet Marketing.

It’s not your fault.  You have been taught to get a job, not run a legitimate business that makes you money even while you sleep.  You may be on the brink of giving up because you don’t see the results you want, something amazing starts to happen.  After not creating content for that day, you open your email and you get a notification that you made a $20 sale.  When you look at the traffic source, it’s a video you did about a month ago.  That puts the fire back in your furnace and you continue to work on your online business.  When you see that you are able to get paid for something you’ve created, you want to go back to the drawing board and find out exactly what it is that got you that first sale.

Yes, getting paid for results is a good feeling because you can do something else.  You could make an initial sale and keep getting paid for that initial sale.  This is called recurring income.  What does this mean?

Let’s say I have a product that pays out $100 a month.  So I want this product to get as many customers as possible.  You have a huge list that might like this product I’m selling.  For each person who buys my product, I will split the profits in half.  So for each sale, you make $50, and I make $50.  I created the product, so as long as you are making a sale, I get $50 for each sale you make each month.  If I find another person who would like to do the same thing, that’s another person who is making me money while I do nothing but enjoy the rewards.  Why?  Because I created something of value that’s getting sales even if I’m not the one doing the selling.

From the person promoting the product (a.k.a affiliate), they work hard one good time and get paid month after month as long as the person continues to use the program.  If they get 100 sales, they make $5,000 a month without having to continually sell other products.

Think the house you’re living in.  You pay your landlord (if you’re renting) or you pay the bank (if you bought a house and took out a mortgage) a monthly fee for using the house or using the money to buy the house.  This same principle can apply to certain online products.

It’s time to get rid of the idea of killing yourself at a job you hate.  Stop making pennies on the dollar when you could be making money for something that you sold once and keep getting paid for it each month.  Stop punching in a time clock when you can create something once and keep promoting it to people without you having to do the promoting yourself.  You work once and the content you put out gets the customers for you.
